It symbolizes adventure and a certain recklessness of attitude. Therefore, throughout history, the Harley Davidson bike has become part of literature and movies, as a culture symbol. There is a long and vivid history behind this cult symbol.
Firstly, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company is based in Milwaukee in the state of Wisconsin. The bike is usually known as a Harley and all the bikes under this line are heavy bikes with engine power starting from 750cc.

Thus the Harleys are ideal for fast rides on the highway, on fast rides. The Harley-Davidson motorcycles have a very unique design and structure and this distinctiveness of design make it possible for these bikes to be modified, using customized features and parts. This has led to the rise of the chopper bike, which is a highly customized bike and is usually meant for sports biking.

The Harley Davidson Company was founded by William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson. So, if you were ever wondering as to why the legendary bike sported such a name, the mystery should be solved by now. The company was founded in the year of 1903. As of now, the key officials in Harley-Davidson are James L. Zierner who is the Chief Executive Officer, Thomas E. Bergmann, the CFO, James A. McCaslin, the Divisional President, and Divisional COO and there is Sy Naqvi who is the President of the Harley-Davidson Financial Services.

This company generates a huge amount of employment by virtue of its cult like status, all over the world. According to the reference data in 2006, the headquarters in Milwaukee in Wisconsin had about 9,700 workers in the office. Accordingly, in the year of 2007, Harley-Davidson generated a staggering amount of revenue, almost to the tune of 5.7 billion U.S dollars! This is a small insight into the amount of popularity of the Harley-Davidson company.

There are certain companies, which have become wholly owned subsidiary companies of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. These are Buell Motorcycle Company and MV Agusta. The latter is an Italian motorcycle manufacturing company.

What is amazing about this bike is that despite the fact that it was founded way back in 1903, despite the changing fashions and the styles, this fashion symbol has remained constant throughout the ages. It has managed to defeat the cruel onslaught of both time and fashion. What was trendy over a hundred years ago is very different to what is trendy now! Yet, with only certain modifications, the bike has essentially remained the same, such that it is instantly recognizable on the roads. Visit the TheBikersEmporium.com home page for more great Harley Davidson articles and shop for motorcycle parts and accessories at a fraction of the retail price.
