As a result, the Harley slowly took on a rather violent and chaotic image, which led to the inevitable public outcry. Perhaps, unjustly so, the image of the legendary motorbike got vilified in the public forum.

However, this did not take away the thrilling image of the bike and still millions of young Americans and others wanted to be part of this alternative rebel culture. The legend was far from dying out. Even now, the Harley Davidson has withstood the onslaught of time and remained as a status symbol. This is unbelievable considering the differences in the fashion statements and how these underwent a transition over the ages. In spite of all this, the legend has still remained. In fact the most important reason why this self perpetuation has taken place is because the Harley cult does not consist of merely the bike but also the numerous accessories that go with it. There are Harley denims and t-shirts for both men and women. There are also different kinds of sunglasses, gloves, backpacks and the like. All these bear the Harley logo. Such memorabilia is very highly demanded in the market.
